The Secret

February 2014

Another month is over - this year is going so quickly already! I've managed to read lots of books this month, however the reviewing has slowed down significantly... Ahh well, it seems you cannot have everything! Now, onto the books!

The Geography of You and Me  Echo Boy  The Blood List

1. Top Girls by Caryl Churchill
2. The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith
3. Double Crossed by Ally Carter
4. Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter
5. Echo Boy by Matt Haig
6. Perfect Scoundrels by Ally Carter
7. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
8. The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson
9. The Blood List by Sarah Naughton

Top Girls and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde were read for school, and while I absolutely despise Top Girls and loathe it with every sense of my being, it's for coursework so I have to suffer through it. I was pleasantly surprised by Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde though, it's actually a good read. As you can probably tell I've read a lot of Ally Carter - I've caught up with the Heist Society series and GAH her books are SO GOOD MAN. I love them and am so sad that there are no more for a while now. Echo Boy by Matt Haig was a really fun read - a hundred miles an hour non stop futuristic thriller - I loved it. The Blood List by Sarah Naughton was really great too - I think Sarah's a really underrated author so definitely check her books out!

My favourite book of the month though, by far, was FANGIRL!

Fangirl

It's SO GOOD and I thought I wouldn't like it but I loved it and now I can't stop recommending it to everyone I know. You can read my review here if you still need convincing!

This month's posts:

REVIEW: Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter
REVIEW: How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff
REVIEW: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

New books this month:

I actually bought lots of books this month for once! I bought Fangirl, Banished, Jessie Hearts NYC, and both Julie Kagawa books (The Iron Legends and The Iron Traitor). I'm reading Banished at the moment and it's really good so definitely look out for that in shops! I've heard really great things about both Maggot Moon and Every Day so I couldn't pass them up when I found them on the shelves at the library. The rest of these books were received for review, so thank you to Simon and Schuster Children's Books, Puffin, Hot Key Books, Hodder & Stoughton and Chicken House for all of these! Particularly looking forward to Where The Rock Splits The Sky and Sleuth or Dare

I'm looking forward to reading in March...

Dandelion Clocks  Zom-B Gladiator (Zom-B, #6)  How to Love

And finally here are some new releases to look forward to in March!

The Edge of Falling  Trouble  Panic
Heart Break Girl  Far From You  Zom-B Mission (Zom-B, #7)

Thanks for reading!

What was the best book you read in February?
Any March releases you're really looking forward to?

Welcome to Fly With Me Blog Tour! To celebrate the release of Fly With Me by Jane Yolen, Heidi E. Y. Stemple, Adam Stemple, and Jason Stemple, blogs across the web are featuring exclusive content from the Yolen-Stemple family plus 5 chances to win a copy! Seeing Birds   Guest Post by Jason Stemple Jason's dad, David Stemple As a child my father introduced me to birds and birding along with fishing and hunting. This early indoctrination led me to a life spent enjoying, relishing and later making a living off of exploring the outdoors and the many forms of wildlife found there. We started birding at an early age in our family: from watching the feeders from the breakfast table, to walks out our back door to the river, to cross-country journeys exploring our National Parks. No moment was too big or too small to be interrupted by a bird sighting. After college I became a professional photographer shooting skiing and rafting in the Colorado Rockies to pay the bills and while birding ha...

Attachments Rainbow Rowell April 14th 2011 Dutton Adult "Hi, I'm the guy who reads your e-mail, and also, I love you . . . " Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know that somebody is monitoring their work e-mail. (Everybody in the newsroom knows. It's company policy.) But they can't quite bring themselves to take it seriously. They go on sending each other endless and endlessly hilarious e-mails, discussing every aspect of their personal lives. Meanwhile, Lincoln O'Neill can't believe this is his job now- reading other people's e-mail. When he applied to be "internet security officer," he pictured himself building firewalls and crushing hackers- not writing up a report every time a sports reporter forwards a dirty joke. When Lincoln comes across Beth's and Jennifer's messages, he knows he should turn them in. But he can't help being entertained-and captivated-by their stories. By the time Lincoln realizes he's falling fo...
